About
I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto, working with Prof. Wei Yu. I received my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from KAIST in 2026 and my M.S. from UNIST in 2023, both under the supervision of Prof. Jinseok Choi, and my B.S. in Electronics Engineering from Jeonbuk National University in 2021.
My current research interests include beamforming algorithm design for multi-user MIMO systems, particularly scalable and low-complexity precoding for hybrid, RIS-aided, and coarsely quantized massive MIMO architectures under imperfect channel state information; the analysis of cell-free massive MIMO systems under limited fronthaul capacity; the design of AI-aided real-time prediction and tracking algorithms for systems with unknown dynamics; and the development of efficient communication frameworks for physical AI.

Research
- MU-MIMO Beamforming — low-complexity and scalable beamforming designs for massive MIMO with hybrid architectures and low-resolution ADCs/DACs; deep neural network-aided scalable and adaptive beamforming architectures.
- RIS-aided Networks — RIS phase-shift optimization designs for practical scenarios such as multi-RIS systems, imperfect channel state information, and low-resolution phase shifters.
- Cell-free MIMO — analysis of cell-free MIMO systems under limited fronthaul capacity; quantization and pilot contamination effects on channel estimation and beamforming; developing pilot assignment and resource allocation algorithms.
- Real-time Prediction/Tracking — task-aware neural Kalman filtering for unknown dynamics, where both the state predictor and the Kalman gain are learned jointly from data without knowledge of the state-evolution function and noise statistics.
- Communications for Physical AI — perception-assisted PHY for robotic systems; developing frameworks from pretrained robot policies to improve communication performance without duplicating visual encoding.
